Santa Cruz homicideMan shot and dropped at hospital (Joneilio Thomas)

Sam Boucaud area, Santa Cruz district, Sam Boucaud , San Juan - Laventille

Around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, officers from the North Eastern Division Task Force responded to reports of loud explosions in the Sam Boucaud area of Santa Cruz. Initial searches and interviews in the Joropo, Juniper, and Moraldo Streets areas yielded no leads. Joneilio Thomas was shot during the incident and dropped off at Port of Spain General Hospital by an unidentified individual at approximately 7:55 p.m. The victim was pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m. The unknown man who brought him to the hospital left without providing any details about the shooting. Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting and the identity of the person who transported the victim to the hospital. The motive for the homicide remains under investigation.
