Man robbed and assaulted after Grindr meetup (36-year-old from Sangre Grande)

Seau D'eau Road, off La Canoa Road, Lower Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz, San Juan - Laventille

A 36-year-old man from Sangre Grande traveled to Seau D'eau Road, off La Canoa Road in Lower Santa Cruz around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, to meet someone he had been communicating with on the dating app Grindr. Upon arrival, he was approached by three men of African descent—one fair-skinned with plaited hair wearing a white jersey and black three-quarter pants, and two dark-skinned slim-built individuals. The three men announced a robbery and forced the victim to surrender his bank cards, iPhone 11 Pro Max (valued at US$800), and the keys to his brand new car worth approximately TT$200,000. The suspects then escaped in the stolen vehicle. The victim reported the incident to San Juan Police Station around 2:30 a.m. The scene was visited by Ag/Cpl Cato and PC Chinpire of the San Juan CID for investigation.
