Esperanza Trace Las Lomas #3 (cocoa field), Brazil, Couva - Tabaquite - Talparo
Ian Alleyne Network (Facebook)Updated May 20, 2026

Adrian Peter Duff, 35, was attacked and chopped while inside a cocoa field along Esperanza Trace, Las Lomas #3 on Monday, May 18, 2026. Duff called the Police Command Centre on Monday evening to report he had been brutally chopped and was trapped in a bushy area; he provided officers with a friend's contact number during the distress call. Attempts to reach Duff after the call proved unsuccessful, prompting family members and residents to begin searching throughout Monday night and into Tuesday. On Tuesday, May 19, relatives discovered Duff's bicycle burnt near a recently extinguished bush fire along Esperanza Road, and police seized the bicycle and processed the area. Subsequent searches uncovered fresh blood beneath two tyres, pieces of wood near a riverbank, and a length of rope at the scene; additional blood was found in the surrounding area. Officers from the San Rafael Police Station responded and expanded search efforts as investigators and relatives continued combing forested areas late into Tuesday; Duff remains missing and feared dead.
