Princes TownTwo Men Hospitalized After Violent Cutlass Altercation

Frederick Settlement, Naggie 3rd Branch, Frederick Settlement , Tunapuna - Piarco

Two men were hospitalized in serious condition following a violent cutlass altercation on Frederick Settlement in the Princes Town district on May 17, 2026 at approximately 10:20 a.m. A resident observed the two men, later identified as Derick Williams and Jerimiah Floyd, armed with cutlasses and repeatedly chopping each other along the roadway. One injured man fled onto the resident's property seeking shelter while the other pursued him; the resident raised an alarm and ordered both men to leave. One man collapsed on the roadway while the other continued attacking him with the cutlass before fleeing the scene. Emergency Health Services and police responded; both men were transported to Princes Town Health Centre and subsequently transferred to San Fernando General Hospital, where they remain in serious but stable condition. Investigators have identified both men; police are conducting enquiries into the circumstances of the altercation.
