ChaguanasVenezuelan Woman Mariannys Jiménez (28) Stabbed to Death on Way to Work

Mariannys Jiménez, 28, a Venezuelan national also known as 'Sophia' from Kelly Village, Caroni, was stabbed to death on Montrose Main Road, Chaguanas on Saturday morning, June 13, 2026 at approximately 9:15 a.m. Jiménez was walking to work with a close friend and co-worker when a man dressed in dark clothing and wearing a cap approached and launched a vicious attack, stabbing her multiple times in broad daylight. Her friend witnessed the assault, ran into a nearby business for help, and saw the suspect fleeing the scene before discovering Jiménez collapsed on the pavement with multiple stab wounds. A passing motorist transported the wounded woman to Chaguanas Health Facility, where medical personnel attempted emergency treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries minutes after arrival. Investigators believe the killing may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, though the motive remains under active investigation and no arrests have been made.
