On June 17, 2025, a 72-year-old woman was attacked during a home invasion at her residence in St. Joseph. The victim had just returned home around noon and was doing laundry outside when she noticed mud near the southern entrance. After going inside, she was on a phone call with her daughter when she saw the bedroom door moving and was confronted by a masked man wielding a metal weapon with two sharp points. The suspect assaulted the victim, delivering two blows that caused injuries to her head and right finger. The assailant then fled the scene, escaping down a nearby river in an unknown direction.
