FreeportVenezuelan National Fires at Home After Extortion Demand

Victim's residence, John Elie Road area, Freeport, Chase Village, Couva - Tabaquite - Talparo

A shooting incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 17th, 2025, in Freeport when a Venezuelan national called the victim around 11:40 p.m. on July 16th demanding to know the location of his child and issuing violent threats upon refusal. Around 12:45 a.m., several loud explosions were heard outside the victim's residence; the suspect was observed armed with a firearm before fleeing on foot toward John Elie Road. Crime Scene Investigators recovered four spent 9mm casings from the scene. The suspect is described as a fair-skinned Venezuelan national of medium build wearing a white hat. Investigations are ongoing.
