What is Crime Hotspots?

Getting Started · Updated 3 June 2026

What is Crime Hotspots?

Crime Hotspots is a crime data platform for Trinidad & Tobago. It aggregates verified crime reports from media sources, structures them using AI-assisted extraction, and presents them through interactive dashboards, area profiles, and safety tools.

Who is it for?

The platform serves four main audiences:

  • General public — residents who want to understand crime patterns in their area or neighbourhood
  • Journalists and researchers — professionals who need structured, citable data for reporting or analysis
  • Institutional clients — organisations requiring detailed crime intelligence for security planning or risk assessment
  • Community reporters — members of the public who want to submit crime tips or safety observations

What data does it cover?

Crime Hotspots tracks serious crime incidents including murders, shootings, robberies, carjackings, home invasions, burglaries, and other offences. Each record includes the crime type, date of occurrence, location, and a link back to the original verified source.

Is it free?

Yes. The platform is free, ad-free, and independent. It is supported by voluntary contributions via Ko-fi.

How is the data verified?

Every incident is sourced from established media outlets or official police statements and cross-referenced before inclusion. AI is used to extract structured fields from articles, but all high-severity incidents are subject to human review before publication.
