Unidentified male critically injured in brutal wood attack (Age unknown)

Corner of Duke and Victoria Streets, near Victoria Square, Port of Spain

Around 2:45 a.m. on June 5, 2025, officers of the Port of Spain Task Force responded to a wireless report of an unresponsive male at the corner of Duke and Victoria Streets, Port of Spain. EHS personnel arrived and found a man of East Indian descent, approximately 5ft 8in tall, lying near Victoria Square with no identification. The victim sustained severe cranial injuries, spinal injuries, and internal bleeding from a brutal attack. He was rushed to Port of Spain General Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department where he was diagnosed and remains in a critical, comatose state. Police recovered a four-foot wooden stick believed to have been used to inflict the injuries. The suspect and circumstances of the attack remain unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
