Woman assaulted by common-law husband during domestic dispute (46-year-old)

Perseverance Road, Carapichaima, Couva - Tabaquite - Talparo

A 46-year-old woman was brutally attacked by her common-law husband, 35-year-old Adrian Bhagwandat, during a violent domestic dispute at their home on Perseverance Road, Carapichaima on Friday, June 6th, 2025. Around 9:00 p.m., the couple engaged in a heated argument that escalated into violence when Bhagwandat struck the victim on the head with a glass bottle. Bhagwandat then armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim multiple times about the body. The woman sustained injuries from both the bottle attack and the knife wounds. Officers from the Freeport Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrived at the scene around 10:00 p.m. after receiving a report of the disturbance. The suspect was arrested by police at the scene.
