Senior citizen brutally attacked during carjacking (62-year-old)

Maresse Smith Street, St. James (outside residence), Port of Spain

A 62-year-old man was violently attacked outside his home on Maresse Smith Street, St. James on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at approximately 10:20 p.m. as he parked his blue MG Trophy ZS vehicle in front of his residence. Two unmasked men of African descent, both wearing dark clothing with one armed with a knife, accosted him as he opened the driver's door, demanding his car keys while shouting "Pass the keys!" During the struggle, the suspects dealt the victim multiple blows to his head, mouth, and ears, leaving him bloodied and battered with visible injuries. The attackers fled on foot with the vehicle, escaping south along De Freitas Street and then onto George Cabral Street. Police responded to the incident and are investigating the carjacking and assault. The victim was left with significant injuries from the violent attack.
