Four gunmen of African descent robbed Premium 7 Supermarket located on Calcutta Road #2, Balmain, Couva on Monday, May 18, 2026 around 7:30 PM. The owner, a 30-year-old Chinese national, was beaten with a gun butt during the robbery. The suspects took an undisclosed sum of money representing the day's sales and a quantity of cigarettes before fleeing the scene. The gunmen escaped in a white-coloured Toyota Aqua bearing licence plate PDL 8528. Police are investigating the armed robbery; no arrests have been reported at this time.
