A schoolboy was brutally assaulted by several other students on a roadway in Chaguanas earlier in the week, as captured in a video that circulated widely on social media. The victim was surrounded, beaten, and repeatedly kicked in the head and upper body until he appeared motionless while lying on the ground. While the injured boy lay on the roadway, a vehicle that had been blocked during the altercation moved forward and made contact with him; bystanders could be heard screaming for the driver to stop, apparently unaware the boy was in front of the vehicle. The Ministry of Education has activated its full support framework and condemned the incident, collaborating with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and school officials to investigate and provide support to those affected.
