PetersfieldSuspected Home Invader Shot Dead by Police in Early Morning Confrontation

A suspected home invader was shot and killed during a confrontation with police officers in the Petersfield, Chaguanas area early Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026. Officers attached to the Central Division Task Force responded to information about a man unlawfully entering a property around 5 a.m. During the operation, the suspect reportedly confronted officers, who opened fire in what police described as an act of self-defence. The unidentified man died at the scene and a revolver was seized by investigators. Police inquiries are ongoing.
