Ian Alleyne Network (Facebook)Updated May 28, 2026

A 34-year-old beekeeper and his 89-year-old grandmother were robbed of gold chains, rings, and cash during a home invasion on Fortune McCarthy Street, Vance River, Guapo around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Three masked men armed with what appeared to be a firearm forced their way into the house while the victims were in the living room; one heavily built suspect pinned the younger victim to the ground during the robbery. The bandits searched bedrooms and drawers before escaping in a waiting vehicle with the stolen jewellery and cash. The 34-year-old victim attempted to follow the suspects and alerted nearby police officers after spotting one of the men near Point Fortin, but the suspect escaped on foot despite a police search. Crime scene investigators processed the home and recovered fingerprints; investigations are ongoing.
