Mt. Irvine67-Year-Old Victim Seizes Robber's Gun at Back Bay Beach

Back Bay Beach, Courland Road, Tobago

A 67-year-old Longdenville resident was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in his silver Toyota Voxy at Back Bay Beach, Courland Road, Mt. Irvine on Saturday, May 30, 2026 around 1:30 p.m. Two masked men approached the vehicle; one armed suspect entered and demanded valuables, successfully taking approximately $1,000 from the victim's wallet. During the robbery, the suspect carelessly placed a Glock 21 pistol on a seat inside the vehicle. The victim seized the opportunity, grabbed the firearm, and caused the startled suspects to abandon the robbery and flee into nearby bushes. The weapon was recovered along with five rounds of live ammunition and taken into police custody. Officers from the Tobago Division are investigating the attempted robbery; no arrests have been made.
