MorugaChow Vendor Shot in Both Legs, Robbed of $400 and Phone

Bunyan Trace, St. Mary's Village, Moruga, Princes Town

A 48-year-old chow vendor was shot in both legs and robbed on Bunyan Trace, St. Mary's Village, Moruga on Wednesday afternoon around 4:10 p.m. while attempting to purchase pommecythere fruit. The vendor was approached by a masked gunman who opened the front passenger door of his white Mitsubishi Libero wagon, announced a robbery, and ordered him out of the vehicle. The gunman forced the victim to lie face down on the ground and stole a bag containing a Samsung cellular phone and approximately $400 in cash. Before fleeing, the suspect shot the victim in both legs; the victim managed to return to his vehicle and drive to the main roadway to seek assistance. Emergency medical personnel transported him to San Fernando General Hospital for treatment. Officers from the Southern Division Task Force and St. Mary's mobile patrol conducted searches in the area but no suspect was apprehended.
