St. Margaret'sElderly Woman, Daughter Tied Up in Home Invasion Robbery

Bandoo Trace Extension, St. Margaret's, Claxton Bay, Couva - Tabaquite - Talparo

Indra Kalicharan, 72, and her 36-year-old daughter were robbed and restrained during a home invasion at their Bandoo Trace Extension residence in St. Margaret's in the early hours of Monday, June 8, 2026 around 2:30 a.m. Two masked intruders dressed in dark clothing, gloves and hats broke into the house while both women were asleep in separate bedrooms; one bandit held down the younger woman, covered her mouth, and threatened her life while the other forced both women into a bedroom where they were tied with straps and locked inside. After the intruders fled, the younger woman freed herself and discovered the house had been thoroughly ransacked. The suspects escaped with approximately $3,700 in cash, two mobile phones, and other jewellery and valuables. Investigators determined the bandits gained entry by removing louvre panes from a window on the western side of the house and fled through a rear door; no arrests have been made.
