Eastern DivisionVisually Impaired Pensioner (76) Robbed, Bound During Home Invasion

Boodoo Highway area, Sangre Chiquito , Sangre Grande

A 76-year-old visually impaired woman was robbed of a gold ring valued at approximately $5,000 during a home invasion at her residence in the Boodoo Highway area around 3 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Two men broke into her bedroom, announced a robbery, and tied her hands with masking tape while gagging her with cloth before searching multiple rooms. Investigators discovered a ladder positioned against the house and a removed louvre pane, indicating the intruders gained entry through a window. The victim managed to free herself after the men fled and contacted police; responding officers found the property extensively ransacked. Acting on information from the investigation, officers from the Eastern Division Task Force arrested a 30-year-old suspect in the Boodoo Highway area and recovered the stolen gold ring along with other items of evidential value. Two additional suspects—a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman—were subsequently detained; investigations are ongoing.
