Man shot and killed outside bar in Sangre Grande (Shaquille Layne)

Shaquille Layne, of North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande, was shot and killed outside a bar in Boodooville around 2:40 am on Sunday. Layne had been liming at the bar when he had an altercation with another man and struck him on the head with a bottle; he was subsequently put out of the bar but remained outside. The other man left the bar, returned armed with a gun, and opened fire on Layne, shooting him about the body. Layne died at the scene. Police responded and the body was viewed by a District Medical Officer and removed to Sangre Grande Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examination. CSI officers processed the scene and recovered several spent 9mm shells. Investigations are continuing.
