Sangre GrandeTwo Arrested for Possession of 35 Rounds of Ammunition

Eastern Main Road, Sangre Chiquito , Sangre Grande

Two men were arrested during a police road-check exercise on Eastern Main Road, Sangre Chiquito in the early hours of Saturday, June 20, 2026 at approximately 3:40 a.m. Officers intercepted a black Toyota Hilux driven by a 43-year-old man from East Aranguez, with a 31-year-old man from Longdenville in the front passenger seat. A search of the vehicle revealed a box containing thirty-five rounds of apparent 9mm ammunition concealed between the front passenger seat and the centre console. Subsequent enquiries confirmed that neither occupant held a Firearm User's Licence, Firearm User's Employee Certificate, nor was otherwise exempted under the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:01. Both men were arrested for possession of ammunition, cautioned, and conveyed to Sangre Grande Police Station along with the vehicle and seized items. Officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department are conducting ongoing enquiries.
