Red HillSheldon 'Bullet' Augustine (37) Shot Dead Near Gambling Den

Red Castle Marketplace, corner of Piarco Old Road and Beharry Street, D'Abadie , Tunapuna - Piarco

Sheldon Augustine, 37, known as 'Bullet', was shot and killed in broad daylight near Red Castle Marketplace at the corner of Piarco Old Road and Beharry Street, Red Hill on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 shortly after 10 a.m. Augustine was found lying face down on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds after residents reported hearing a rapid succession of gunshots. Witnesses observed a white Nissan Tiida speeding away from the area moments after the attack; Emergency Response Patrol officers secured the crime scene and investigators recovered several spent 9mm shell casings from the roadway. Police are investigating whether the murder is connected to a major police raid on an alleged illegal gambling operation in the area last month; sources indicate Augustine had been accused of providing information to police about the illegal gambling den, and allegations suggest a police officer may have revealed his identity.
