A 55-year-old man from Arouca was targeted outside Rainbow Supermarket on South Bank Road, Kelly Village, Caroni on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, shortly before 1 PM when a bandit attempted to rob him of a gold chain and $7,500. The suspect, described as a man of African descent, approached the victim, grabbed the gold chain around his neck, and forcibly broke it away. The victim resisted the robbery attempt and fell to the ground during the struggle. The bandit fled the scene onto Hydraulic Road. The victim's efforts to fight back prevented the theft from being completed.
