MaloneyJamal Sheppard (25) Shot Dead Minutes After Police Station Check-In

Gull Terrace, Maloney, D'Abadie , Tunapuna - Piarco

Jamal Sheppard, 25, of Maloney Gardens, was shot and killed on Gull Terrace, Maloney on Friday evening at approximately 6:50 p.m., just 12 minutes after reporting to Maloney Police Station to comply with his bail conditions on a pending firearm and ammunition charge. After leaving the police station in a Nissan Versa, Sheppard drove to the home of a female acquaintance and told her he believed he was being followed by a white motor vehicle. A white vehicle then pulled up near where the pair were standing, and two armed men exited and opened fire in Sheppard's direction. Sheppard attempted to flee by running and climbing over a nearby wall into a neighbouring yard, but the gunmen pursued him and continued shooting, striking him multiple times until he collapsed. Crime Scene Investigators from the Specialist Evidence Recovery Unit processed the area and recovered 12 spent 9mm shell casings. Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting; no arrests have been made.
