Mitchell Street, South Oropouche, South Oropouche , Siparia

A 51-year-old woman was shot twice while sleeping inside her home on Mitchell Street, South Oropouche on June 26 at approximately 2:20 a.m. Police responded around 2:30 a.m. following reports of loud explosions in the area and found the woman suffering from gunshot injuries to her lower back. The woman told officers she was awakened by the sound of gunshots and immediately felt a burning sensation in her lower back; she did not see the shooter at the time of the incident. Medical examination at San Fernando General Hospital revealed two gunshot wounds to her lower right hip area with no exit wounds, and doctors classified her condition as critical, determining she would require surgery.
