A 68-year-old woman at her home in Golconda Settlement, Ste Madeleine was confronted by an alleged intruder known as 'Dougla' around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday night when she heard shouting outside. The suspect opened the front gate and entered the property without permission, then made death threats while advancing toward the woman on her front steps. Fearing for her safety, the woman armed herself with a cutlass and struck the suspect several times, causing injuries. Residents heard an alarm and rushed to assist, detaining the suspect until officers from the Ste Madeleine Police Station arrived. The 57-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to San Fernando General Hospital for treatment. Crime scene investigators processed the scene, photographed and seized evidence, and obtained a statement from the homeowner. Investigations are continuing under the supervision of the Ste Madeleine Police Station.
