MorugaMan Shot in Hand While Harvesting Yams at Big Hill

Big Hill, forested area near Edward Trace, Moruga, Basse Terre , Princes Town

29-year-old Shaquille Silverton of Edward Trace, Basse Terre, Moruga was shot in the right hand while harvesting yams in a forested area known as Big Hill on Monday, July 29, 2025 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Silverton heard a loud explosion and moments later felt a burning sensation in his right hand, realizing he had been injured. When he turned around, he saw a man running away in the opposite direction but could not provide a description due to the distance. Silverton reported the incident to Moruga Police Station, where PC Horseford escorted him to Moruga Health Centre for treatment; he was later transferred to Princes Town District Health Facility for further care and a medical report was obtained.
