A 59-year-old man was seriously injured on Saturday morning after being attacked with a chopper at Edward Trace Junction, Basse Terre in Moruga. The victim was standing with his sister when a man known to the family as "Fingers" approached from Edward Trace and drew a chopper from his waist, striking the victim multiple times. The victim's sister helped guide him toward an oncoming black band maxi to escape the attacker. Off-duty Sergeant Murrain, who was observing the attack, intervened by taking control of the chopper and apprehending the suspect. The victim was transported to Princes Town District Health Facility and subsequently transferred to San Fernando General Hospital for emergency surgery.
