A teenager believed to be from Laventille was fatally stabbed during J'Ouvert celebrations in Woodbrook on Monday morning, February 16th, 2026. The attack occurred at the corner of De Verteuil and Warren Streets where large crowds had gathered for early-morning carnival festivities. Two young men were wounded during the confrontation. One teenager succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at hospital and was pronounced dead. The second victim remains hospitalised and is receiving medical treatment. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing are still unclear, and investigators are working to determine what led to the deadly altercation amid the festivities.
