A 54-year-old woman reported losing over $2,000 after being deceived in an online furniture transaction arranged through Facebook on Friday, February 20, 2026 at approximately 4:30 p.m. She communicated with a prospective buyer regarding the sale of a wardrobe valued at TT$850 and a chest of drawers priced at TT$1,200. Approximately 30 minutes later, a second individual arrived at her home in Caroni in a vehicle of unknown make and registration number. The man collected the furniture, reportedly on behalf of the initial contact, but no payment was made at the time of collection. The victim attempted to reach the supposed buyer multiple times but was unable to make contact as of March 2, 2026. The incident appears to be a coordinated fraud scheme involving at least two individuals working together to obtain the furniture without payment.
