Shooting at Mango Rose leaves one dead, two wounded ((Dwayne Simon, 33))

One man (Dwayne Simon, 33) was killed and two others injured in a shooting at Mango Rose Housing Complex in east Port of Spain on Thursday morning at approximately 10:45 a.m. Residents heard a series of loud explosions and observed a group of armed men fleeing the scene. The deceased has been identified as Dwayne Simon, who was pronounced dead at the scene despite quick response from Inter Agency Task Force officers who were conducting a site visit at a nearby school. Two other men from the community were found bleeding from multiple injuries. One of the injured men was struck by a stray bullet while throwing away garbage at a bin near the shooting scene. Both injured men were transported to Port of Spain General Hospital where they were treated for serious injuries. Officers from Besson Street police station, the Homicide Bureau, and Port of Spain Division responded to the incident. Police currently have no identified motive for the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
