Ramlakhan was kidnapped and held captive until his recovery on March 18, 2026. Police conducted a coordinated operation led by DCP Natasha George, ACP Richard Smith, and Snr Supt Anderson Pariman, focusing on Roopsingh Road, Carapichaima based on intelligence of the victim's location. Officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Cyber Crime Unit, Home Invasion Unit, and Northern Division Gang Unit conducted systematic searches of a galvanized shed and adjoining vegetated areas, supported by the TTPS Air Support Unit using infrared drone reconnaissance. Ramlakhan was released between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm on March 18, 2026, and guided officers to the location before making his way to relatives along Roopsingh Road who alerted authorities. He was taken to Chaguanas Health Facility for medical attention. Investigations are ongoing under the direction of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
