A female pedestrian was the victim of a brazen daylight robbery while walking along the pavement on Jerningham Avenue, Belmont, around 2:45 p.m. The suspect approached the woman and greeted her with a "good afternoon" before suddenly snatching her handbag. A struggle ensued as the victim attempted to retain her property, but the suspect eventually overpowered her. The assailant then fled on foot into the nearby East Dry River with the bag, which contained an undisclosed sum of cash and various personal items.
