Taxi driver robbed and carjacked at gunpoint by five men (identity unknown)

Naparima Mayaro Road, Inverness Road / Borde Narve, Woodlands , Princes Town

A taxi driver operating a white Subaru for hire along Naparima Mayaro Road picked up five men posing as passengers around 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday night. The group directed him toward Borde Narve, but upon reaching Inverness Road, one of the men pulled a gun and announced a robbery. The victim was robbed of cash, a cellphone, and his vehicle. Police intercepted the stolen vehicle in Ste Madeleine shortly after receiving the robbery report. During the interception, one suspect opened fire on officers, who returned fire. No injuries were reported to the victim or officers.
