Two Tobago residents reported losing up to $8,000 each in down-payments for vehicles advertised on a fraudulent TikTok page listing 13 cars priced between $24,000 and $70,000. Victims communicated with the page administrator, made purchase arrangements, and transferred funds, but all contact ceased after payment and no vehicles were delivered. Police discovered the seller's profile name and image were stolen from a real individual who had warned the public in December that his identity was being used for fraudulent transactions. The Fraud Squad is investigating; officers advise the public to physically verify goods before sending money for online purchases.
