Using Dashboard Filters
The Trinidad & Tobago dashboard has two ways to filter the data: a year selector at the top, and a Filters drawer for crime type, region, and area.
Year selector
A sticky pill bar near the top of the dashboard shows one pill per available year (e.g. 2024, 2025, 2026) plus an “All” option. Tap any pill to switch the entire dashboard — map, stat cards, crime breakdown, and Quick Insights — to that year’s data. A loading shimmer appears briefly while the data refreshes.
Filters drawer
Tap the Filters button to open the filters drawer. Available filters:
Crime type
Select one or more crime types to narrow the map and stat cards to those incidents only. When nothing is selected, all types are shown.
Region
Filter to a specific region of Trinidad (e.g. East, West, Central, South, Tobago). The map and stats update to show only incidents from that region.
Area
Narrow further to a specific neighbourhood or community within the selected region.
Crime type stat cards
Below the hero vitals, the dashboard shows 10 crime-type cards (Murder, Attempted Murder, Shooting, Robbery, Carjacking, Home Invasion, Burglary, Theft, Assault, Kidnapping) sorted by incident count. These re-sort automatically when you change the year or apply filters.
The map
The Leaflet map updates in real time as you change filters. Cluster bubbles show the incident count for that area — tap a cluster to zoom in, or tap an individual pin to see the incident summary. A Top Areas panel to the right of the map shows the highest-crime regions for the current filter state.
Quick Insights
Below the map, the Quick Insights card shows automatically calculated summaries — highest crime area, peak day, busiest month, and averages — all calculated for the current filter and year selection.
