A couple was robbed, assaulted and tied up during a home invasion at an apartment on Hosein Trace, Boundary Road, San Juan around 3:30 a.m. on Monday. Six masked men in dark clothing forced entry into the unsecured apartment, assaulted one victim, bound both occupants with duct tape, and ransacked the premises before fleeing with cash, multiple iPhones, gold rings and a chain in a Nissan Tiida. One victim managed to free himself and raised an alarm, causing the suspects to flee. One stolen phone was tracked to Beetham Gardens before being switched off. Police from Barataria Station and the Criminal Investigations Department responded and searched the area, but suspects were not located. Crime scene investigators recovered no usable fingerprints; enquiries continue and CCTV footage is being sought.
