Youth escapes gunfire in daylight ambush (20-year-old, Paramin)

Saut D'Eau Road near corner of Beau Pres Road, Maraval, La Finette , Diego Martin

A 20-year-old from Morne Rene Road, Paramin, was ambushed and shot at while driving his white Mazda Axela south along Saut D'Eau Road, Maraval, on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 at approximately 2:45 p.m. A dark-coloured Nissan Qashqai approached from the opposite direction and blocked his vehicle's path near the corner of Beau Pres Road, after which a masked gunman exited the rear left passenger seat and opened fire. The victim immediately jumped from his vehicle and fled down a short cliff into nearby bushes while hearing additional gunshots. He managed to reach a nearby house where a resident allowed him to use a phone to contact a relative, who picked him up and took him home. Police responded to reports of gunshots and discovered the white Mazda Axela at a standstill with multiple bullet holes in the bonnet and windshield. Officers recovered 13 spent 9mm shell casings along the roadway. The investigation into the motive and identity of the gunman is ongoing.
