A 79-year-old pensioner from Blanchisseuse was robbed of his silver Kia Soul (registration PDA 9494) during a brazen carjacking on Monday, March 2, 2026, around 3:45 p.m. while parked along the North Coast Road near the Pillars. Two men of African descent wearing red T-shirts and shorts with plaited hairstyles approached the vehicle from opposite sides, with one suspect ordering the elderly man out and demanding his keys, wallet, and cellphone while the second suspect kept his hand at his waistband, suggesting he was armed. Fearing for his safety and believing the men were armed, the 79-year-old complied with their demands. The suspects then entered the vehicle and drove off, heading south along Saddle Road toward Maraval. Police are investigating the incident and searching for the two suspects involved in the carjacking.
