Man critically wounded in early morning shooting at El Carmen (Dennis Ali, 60)

Santa Monica Trace, El Carmen Village, St Helena, Tunapuna - Piarco

Dennis Ali, a 60-year-old resident of River Branch Road, Kelly Village, was shot and critically wounded in the early morning hours of June 5, 2025, at Santa Monica Trace in El Carmen Village, St. Helena. Around 2:45 a.m., a 69-year-old friend discovered Ali lying on the roadway beside his white Nissan AD Station Wagon (registration PBS 5036), which had a gunshot hole in the windshield. The friend had been waiting for Ali to arrive so they could travel together to the Port-of-Spain Wholesale Market for business purposes, and when unable to reach him by phone, went searching with another companion. Ali was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was treated and remains listed in critical condition. Four spent 9mm shell casings were recovered at the scene by police, indicating multiple shots were fired during the attack. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and police continue their investigation into the incident.
