Man shot near forest camp in Balandra (Adrian Doon, 30)

Sugar Hill area, Balandra, near forest agricultural camp (500 metres off Sugar Hill), Rampanalgas , Sangre Grande

Adrian Doon, a 30-year-old from Mafeking Village, Mayaro, was shot while heading to his agricultural camp in a forested area near Balandra on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 around 7:00 p.m. The shooting occurred approximately 500 metres off the Sugar Hill area. Doon heard several loud explosions and felt a burning sensation in his waist, then heard a familiar voice shout "Look he run dey!" before running and hiding in nearby bushes overnight. Doon remained hidden in the bushes until daybreak, suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of his waist. He was semi-dressed and barefoot when discovered. Around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, a resident of Sugar Hill, Balandra found Doon bleeding at his door and reported the incident to police. Doon was transported to hospital where he is recovering from his injuries. Police are investigating the shooting and the identity of the suspect, whose voice Doon recognized.
