A security guard was confronted by an armed man with a cutlass at a company compound in Mayaro around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Three additional armed men entered the compound, restrained the guard, and robbed him of cash before loading copper cables valued at $70,000 onto a truck parked on the property. The assailants fled with the truck and stolen cargo, but the victim freed himself and alerted police. Investigators recovered the abandoned truck at Vesprey Road and the partially burnt copper cables. A 30-year-old man from Mayaro was arrested in connection with the robbery; investigations are ongoing.
