A lifeguard tower at Beaumont Road, Mayaro, was targeted by thieves who removed several structural components on Monday, July 6, 2026. A lifeguard discovered the theft around 11:00 AM upon arriving for duty and reported it to police. The stolen items included an eight-foot section of the entry and exit ramp railing made from composite plastic material, and a section of the seat base and backrest inside the tower, also made from composite plastic material. The value of the missing items has not yet been determined. Officers from the Mayaro Police Station visited the scene and conducted enquiries; no arrests have been made.
