Laventille man fatally stabbed outside home (Andre Soleyn, 41)

#22 Point Pleasant Park, Laventille, Port of Spain

Andre Soleyn, 41, of #22 Point Pleasant Park, Laventille, was fatally stabbed during an altercation outside his home on Thursday, June 12, 2025 around 9:15 p.m. Soleyn and suspect Nino Thomas, also 41 and from the same neighborhood, were arguing when Thomas stabbed him. Officers from the nearby St. Barb's Police Post responded to reports of the incident. Soleyn was transported to Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police arrested Nino Thomas shortly after the incident. When officers located Thomas at his home, he had a fresh cut on his index finger, which he claimed resulted from opening a tin of tuna. Thomas was taken to Besson Street Police Station and then to the hospital for medical treatment.
