A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg on Sunday afternoon around 4:15 p.m. while walking along Santa Monica East in El Carmen, St. Helena. The victim had just exited a taxi when he heard three loud explosions and saw a masked individual pointing a firearm at him. Fearing for his life, the teen attempted to run but fell and noticed blood coming from his left leg. The victim crawled into nearby bushes to hide and later observed a white car speeding away from the scene. He contacted his cousin who transported him to St. Helena Health Facility, where he was subsequently transferred via ambulance to Arima Health Facility. Medical examination confirmed a single gunshot wound to the upper left leg with a fractured bone. Police are investigating the shooting and searching for the masked gunman and the white vehicle.
