WoodbrookArmed Suspect Fires at FUL Holder, Chase Ends in Morvant Crash

Fitt Street and Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, Port of Spain

A 41-year-old FUL (Firearm User License) holder was shot at by a 37-year-old suspect during an altercation on Fitt Street and Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The suspect allegedly pulled out an illegal firearm and discharged two shots in the victim's direction before fleeing in a dark grey Nissan Almera. The victim, armed with a licensed firearm, returned fire in self-defense as the suspect escaped the scene. Police spotted the vehicle at Independence Square and initiated a pursuit through Port-of-Spain; during the chase, the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at officers who opened fire on the vehicle. The pursuit ended near Park and Ramier Street in Morvant after the suspect's vehicle crashed into a pavement. Officers recovered an illegal Taurus firearm with a filed-off serial number and several rounds of 9mm Trinidad and Tobago Regiment ammunition from the scene; the 37-year-old suspect was arrested and remains in custody.
