At 8:28 a.m. on May 14, the woman visited Republic Bank's Independence Square branch and deposited $3,400, then sent proof of payment to the contact provided. After the transaction was completed, all calls and messages from the seller went unanswered and the promised cellphone was never delivered. Police are continuing investigations into the suspected online fraud; no arrests have been made.
