Police conducted an intelligence-driven anti-crime operation on Rasheed Avenue, Munroe Road, Cunupia on Friday May 15, 2026, shortly after 8:00 a.m., during which officers detained a 31-year-old taxi driver and recovered approximately 187 kilogrammes of cannabis valued at $1.309 million. The suspect allegedly led officers to several concealed crocus bags hidden inside an abandoned structure near the property, which contained 187 packets prepared for trafficking. Officers also seized a loaded Glock 19 pistol with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition from the location. The suspect, identified as Ricardo Mayers, was arrested and cautioned for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm without a Firearm User's Licence, and possession of ammunition without a Firearm User's Licence. The operation was conducted under State of Emergency regulations as part of the Central Division's intensified anti-crime strategy targeting organised drug networks.
