A 41-year-old driver was robbed at knifepoint on the Beetham Highway near City Gate on Friday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. by a group of four men and two women. The victim was signalled to stop and, believing the group wanted a ride, pulled over; one suspect then yanked open the driver's side door and pressed a knife against the victim's neck while another suspect stole a Samsung A32 cellular phone and cash totalling $1,850. The driver stopped resisting during the assault. After the robbery, the suspects fled on foot along Broadway, then onto Independence Square before heading toward Nelson Street. Police have documented the incident; no arrests have been made at the time of reporting.
