Mon ReposArmed Robbery Attempt Ends in Gunfire, Suspect Falls from Car

Fonrose Street, Mon Repos, San Fernando

A 24-year-old victim from Gasparillo was robbed and shot at on Funrose Street, Mon Repos on Saturday night around 10:13 p.m. after arriving to collect $1,500 for an electronic item from a man he knew through previous business dealings. Upon arrival, the first suspect entered the victim's vehicle and handed him a black plastic bag claiming it contained cash; moments later, a second armed suspect in dark clothing and a mask approached and attempted to enter through the rear passenger door with a firearm. The victim became fearful when the suspect pointed the gun at him and sped off; during the escape, the armed suspect discharged the firearm before falling from the moving vehicle. The fleeing driver lost control and crashed into a parked vehicle nearby; the first suspect then attacked the victim, stole an iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at $10,000, and escaped on foot. Officers from Mon Repos CID, including PC Roopchand, responded and interviewed witnesses; Crime Scene Investigators WPC Harripersad and PC Bhagwandeen processed the scene and found workable fingerprints on the victim's vehicle, which was towed to San Fernando CSI office for forensic examination. Police also recovered $55,000 in old Trinidad and Tobago currency and a Samsung cellphone from the scene.
